They never cease to amaze me. Actually, what amazes me is not the actual gimmick. It's a gimmick (gimmick = lame) but it's the fact that everyone buys into it.What is to make me think that by using a 'D'Andrea Pro-Grip' guitar pick is going to make me play like a pro?
Because it simply says 'pro' on it I guess.
No one would buy a pick that said 'D'Andrea Amateur-Grip'. Who wants to play like an amateur? (No one).
Words like 'pro', 'master', and 'best' seem to be used quite a bit. We're constantly being compared to the pros. Which, to me, is kind of unfair because no matter how hard I try, I will never be able to play the guitar like (what I consider to be) a pro. I may get good. I may get very good. But I won't be a pro.
To me the definition of 'pro' is someone who can make a good living doing whatever it is.
Mhm... No matter how hard I try or how 'pro' my guitar pick is, I won't be able to make a good living doing it. Not an issue of low self-esteem. Just being honest. There are plenty of things I could make a good living at, but guitaring is not one of them.
But the companies will still be telling me I can do it, as long as I use their 'pro' guitar pick.
Ah well :)
