I feel that I should write my own Gettysburg address today, seeing as one year ago on this very date, our entire moving van was stolen. Yes, it was an exciting occasion. We all agree that it was simply a late April Fool's prank that really wasn't that funny at all... :)
The picture above is of Eugene, Oregon (where the burglars stole our stuff from). The city is not nearly as pretty once you get into it, but why quibble?
We were thinking of holding some sort of ceremony today, but I think all of us decided that reliving the day is not something any of us are too wild about. We would need to empty out a room and light some candles in a circle and chant to the moving van gods or something like that. Instead of delving into pagan rituals, I'm just going to remember it by looking around my room and going, "Wow, my Charlie Brown gum ball is still missing..." And that will be it.
We've managed to rebuild our lives pretty well, I think anyways. We now have couches, carpeting, bed-sheets, and my dad has a guitar. Yup - right back where we were before our stuff was stolen :P
I actually am not sure if he had a U-Haul this time around... I think I vaguely remember it being yellow... But I'm not sure. I think it may have been a Penske truck actually... But I really don't care. We had a moving van stolen, why bother about which company it was?
